Graduation presents

Some of my youth are graduating high school this year. I want to get them something small but meaningful. Have any suggestions?

  1. Our youth leaders wrote very heartfelt cards, personalized to each person and gave us pocket/purse sized journals "for keeping up with life."

I think the card meant more to me than the journal, but it was nice to see the journal and think of Wade & Marion.

  2. Did I ever tell you about "Hugs and Wishes Jars"?
This might be something you wanna to with your youth group instead, or you could use the idea and make them gifts instead of a group project... but what they are is, everyone gets a jar, like a regular canning style jar and they get to decorate it how ever they want. Then everyone in the circle writes on a little piece of paper something nice about everyone and puts it in their jars. You can also have Hershey kisses in the jars too, but I always forget that step when ever I did it with my summer camp kids cuz didn't want to deal with hyper kids. haha. But the point behind the jars to to not read the papers right away. you are supposed to save them for a time when you are feeling low and then you take out one of the papers, a "hug," and one of the hershey kisses and read something nice someone had to say about you :) the first time I did one I was one of the campers instead of the counselor leading the activity and I thought it was so great (especially since I was at like that teenage/high school age). So, i guess if you wanted to make gifts you could just write all the little hugs yourself instead of having everyone in the group do it? Its a small but meaningful thing and doesn't really cost any more than what you pay for the jars and if you are really thrifty and green you could used recycled jars and it would be practically free! :P
